SPRINTERS IN SALEM RACE Six Furlongs Contest Takes Place oi Handicap Originally Scheduled Nine Horses Named. - SALEM, N. H., Oct. 7. Ten of the best I sprinters in New England, headed by Felix Spatolas Wise Prince, will travel six furlongs tomorrow at Rockingham Park in the General Green Purse for a pot of ,000. Originally a handicap at a mile and one-sixteenth, it was listed for a purse of ,000 added. It was figured as a race between Wise Prince and Dolly Val and the horsemen apparently figured it the same way for when the entries closed there was Wise Prince and Dolly Val in solitary magnificence and the others who had been nominated were reported laid up with everything from the croup to housemaids knee. Charles J. McLennan immediately unfurled a condition race, raised the purse from ,000 to ,000 and enticed nine owners to enter their thoroughbreds against the Black Bombshell Prince. As in the originally scheduled race, Wise Prince is the one to beat. He will carry 124 pounds. The opposition will come from Dun-ade, Gay Balko, Beach Ensemble and a galaxy of other sprinters.
