NEW YORK CHANCES IMPROVED NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 7. The chances of the New York Giants, now in Washington for the grid game with the Redskins tomorrow, were greatly enhanced when Ox Parry and Chuck Gelatka left to join the Maramen. Both were injured in the Pirate battle last Monday and were left behind for treatment. Dr. Francis Sweeney, team physician, reported that they readily responded to treatment and should be fit for duty, i With Parry back at tackle and Gelatka at -end, the Giants are at full strength for the crucial battle. A defeat here would virtually put them out of the running in the flag chase. Steve Owen probably will start Johnny Karcis, veteran fullback, who was signed last week, and the addition should prove valuable to the team. Karcis gained 511 yards on his bucking last fall, and the Giant mentor is hopeful that his powerful plunging will1 correct the lack of scoring punch.
