I t LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES f s s Apprentice F. Kelley arrived from New York to join the large riding colony in Maryland. The youngster has four remaining winners to ride before becoming a full-fledged rider. Ex-jockey Sidney Trenchard shipped his horses to Jamaica to finish out the balance of the meeting. Trainer J. A. Skinner returned from Rolling Hock Hunt meeting in Pennsylvania, with Glen Boy and Happy Go. Skinner reported that the good jumper El Dorador of Montpelier, who was in his charge, was destroyed following an injury when he fell in a steeplechase. J. H. C. Forbes has been commissioned to condition the imported jumper, Valpuiseaux, owned by W. Wickes, for the Chevy Steeplechase Handicap, to be run here October 19. For a consideration that was not made public, Robert Curran disposed of the useful middle distance performer, Howard, to William Ray. The transaction was completed Friday. Jockey Joe Wagner left after the last race at Laurel, on Friday, for Jamaica, to ride Masked General for the Brandywine Stable. Jockey J. Stout is expected to reach here early Saturday morning from New York to ride Johnstown in the Richard Johnson Stakes. Emil Denemark left for Chicago late Thursday evening, and is due back here in a few days. Gwynne Tompkins, former trainer of the Brookmeade Stable, is a visitor and will take in several days of the sport. The sprinter, Lenpola, was added to the local schooling list which now numbers twenty-three pupils. R. J. Walden, who served in the stewards stand at Timonium during the ten-day meeting at the York Road plant, was a visitor Friday. Tom Smith, who conditions Seabiscuit for Charles S. Howard, transferred his charge to Pimlico from Laurel, to prepare the son of Hard Tack for his coming match race with War Admiral. J. Yancey Christmas transferred Rough Time to Jamaica to meet his engagement in the Interborough Handicap to run Wednesday.
