BOLD LOVER, forced to race very wide to the stretch, began to move up after a half mile and, "wearing down BOSTON SOUND, swerved to the" inside when drawing clear. MARLIE MAY a strong factor from the start and rated under steady restraint to the final quarter, stood a drive gamely and withstood "WOWOS challenge. The latter, also well up from the start, was eased back a trifle to escape possible interference soon after reaching the stretch, came between horses in the last eighth and finished boldly. VALDINA did not keep up on the stretch turn, but rallied strongly in the late stages. MERRY CAROLINE was under strong urging after three-eighths and tired badly in the final eighth. CRUISING raced very wide while under good restraint early, responded to light punishment when wearing down DROMBO and drew out slowly through the final eighth, where he was not strongly persevered with. DROMBO took command with a rush, saved ground throughout and could not withstand the winner, yet held on in determined fashion. TARTARUS raced prominently from the start, came out entering the stretch and closed evenly under a hand ride. FLOSILDA had no mishaps. DETERMINED began slowly and, lacking speed, never threatened. GATO, under hustling tactics from the start and taken to the inside before reaching the turn, was lucky to secure room next to the rail when taking the lead, swerved under pressure in the stretch and, closing fast when straight, recovered command and won drawing clear. OUR CREST displayed good speed from the start, swerved out slightly on the stretch turn, cot to the front again as GATO swerved, but was outgamed by the winner in the last sixteenth. GOOD ACTOR worked his way up gradually, was blocked in the stretch and held on well when clear in the last eighth. CHIEF NADI showed a good effort. THE HARE was held safe. WILD WEST took command before reaching the final half mile and, while under snug restraint, gamely resisted MASICILLOS challenge in the stretch and was drawing out at the end. MASKILLO, rated along under steady restraint to the stretch, where he responded to pressure, could not get to the leader with a strong challenge and tired slightly in the closing stages. MISS COLLINS, on the inside throughout, was under energetic riding the entire final half mile and tired in the stretch. P ORCHIDS NEXT, well up from the start, raced to the lead with a rush on the. turn, failed to hold the r winner, yet hung on with determination to the end. SMART TRICK improved her position gradually, saved some ground on the turn and, coming out in the final eighth, continued in resolute fashion and was wearing down the leaders. AMERICAN BYRD failed to keep up on the turn, also came out in the stretch and closed well under a powerful ride. IMPERIAL SIR tired in the drive. VEYO had early speed. UNEASY, forced to race wide much of the trip and reserved off the pace under steady restraint, was placed to strong urging after straightening out in the stretch, came strongly in the final eighth and got up in the closing strides. CHANCE RAY, strongly restrained while forcing the early pace,, took command approaching the stretch, was under stout urging the last three-sixteenths and tired near the end, but outstayed ELOOTO. The latter, a sharp factor from the start, was on the inside after about three-eighths, made a determined bid when called upon, but also faltered in the late stages. HER REIGH made the early pace in hand, was under vigorous riding when he surrendered the lead to CHANCE RAY, but hung on stubbornly to within a short distance of the finish, where he tired. The latter, a strong factor from the start and also in hand to the last five-sixteenths, made a courageous bid under strong handling, but was not good enough. ESCOLEE, slow to respond, rallied after coming through on the inside entering the stretch, but tired near the end. WANDEROBO came with good belated speed in the stretch. HIGH MAN had no excuses. SKI quit. MR. MACK failed to stay under mild pressure. ZEVAR was never a real factor. SICKLEBILL did not break with his field, attempted to wheel after taking a stride and, having no chance, only cantered after the field.
