I LONG BRANCH TURF NOTES s $ Charles F. Henry, former racing secretary I and presiding steward of the Orpen tracks, was a visitor at Long Branch. He is on a visit to his home here and departed for Covington, Ky., from which point he will go to Shreveport for the meeting which opens at the Louisiana track October 22. Racing secretary P. C. Galliger has added 00 to the value of the Golden Virginia Tobacco Handicap, to be run Saturday, at one mile and a furlong. This brings the value to ,600, while a cup will be presented to the winning owner by the tobacco company. The stable of J. B. Miller of Montreal arrived from Hawthorne in charge of trainer Tom Savage. The shipment included Mint Box, Little Cleora, Rebecca Lee, and the juvenile, Josette. The stable will remain for the Dufferin Park meeting, then ship to Montreal to take up winter quarters. M. J. Agnews steeplechaser, Muckle Do, died at Thorncliffe Park on Thursday afternoon. The seven-year-old Scotch Broom gelding raced in Montreal this season and has been ailing since returning to Toronto. He was in charge of trainer W. Barker.
