MARKING TIME AT LEXINGTON Visitors Trickling Into Blue Grass Capital for Meeting. Racing, Thoroughbred Sales and Dinner Provide Plenty of Interest for Turfmen and Breeders. LEXINGTON, Ky., Oct. 8. Visitors from all parts of the country have begun arriving here for the two weeks of racing, sales and annual dinner of the Thoroughbred Club of America starting Monday. The auctions in the Lexington Sales Paddock of the Fasig-Tipton company begin Monday morning at 9:30 oclock and will continue through the" afternoon and evening and thereafter will be held mornings and Nights of Tuesday and Wednesday. Keenelands autumn meeting will be inaugurated Tuesday afternoon and continue through the balance of the week, resuming on the following Tuesday for the remainder of the week. The testimonial dinner to Mrs. Payne Whitney, owner of the Greentree Stable and the nations outstanding sportswoman, is slated for this coming Thursday night. SALE OF 528 HORSES. A total of 528 horses have been catalogued for the three days of sales which will be conducted by the Fasig-Tipton company with Thomas B. Cromwell in charge. "Doc" Bond will serve as the auctioneer, with "Brownie" Leach announcing the offerings. The Monday afternoon sale will be started at 1 oclock and the evening auctions at 7:30 oclock. Under the direction of president Hal Price Headley, attention to final details relative to the opening of Keeneland, Tuesday, was given today and only routine matters including the roll call of the mutuel department and last check on the operation of the "tote" were left undone before the plant was in complete readiness. Sidney S. Brown and Fred Burton will open the secretarys office tomorrow morning for the issuance of badges to horsemen and to take entries Monday for the inaugural program. NUMEROUS ARRIVALS. Numerous stables have arrived during the past forty-eight hours and with every stall on the grounds allotted as well as many at the trotting track, no lack of material is expected. Most prominent of the arrivals was the Greentree Stable of seven in charge of John Gaver. In the group was Third Degree, which finished third in the Belmont Futurity and is one of the most prominent candidates for the Breeders Futurity, outstanding attraction of the meeting. His stablemates are Birthday, Drowsy, Cherry Jam, Armor Bearer, Twist and Slave Song. Other prominent horsemen arriving included J. B. Respess, Keene Daingerfield, Jr., Tommy Root, S. S. Gano, C. C. Norman, A. G. Tarn, J. H. Skirvin, W. G. Sparks, Dan Morris, H. H. Temple, Baylor Hickman, Bryant Ott, Steve Judge, Lee ODonnell, F. P. Letellier and Nick Burger. A division of the Millsdale-Pellcteri stable also arrived from New York. ,
