HALLUCINATOR. going in his best form and restrained off the pace for a half mile, raced to the pacemaker with a rush, drew into command swiftly and held LILEAL safe. LILEAL worked her way up gradually, was forced wide on the far turn on the second time around, recovered quickly from the loss of ground and finished strongly. DAVIDS BOY, never far out of it but forced to race wide throughout, held on with uood courage. TINY COMET displayed speed for five-eighths, but gave way badly thereafter. QUICK SANTA began slowly and made up some ground. MODERN LASH acted badly at the gate, reared up at the break and was never a factor. ALKALI had speed for three-eighths, then dropped out of it. STAR ROYAL, slow to begin and in close quarters early, raced around horses while working his way up, responded well to vigorous urging and held CHIEFS SCOUT safe. The latter moved into the lead with a rush entering the back stretch and continued gamely under urging, but was not good enough. MR. BOSS, close up throughout, had no mishaps. TRACE BOY, taken in hand early and kept on the inside all the way, failed to respond when placed to pressure in the last quarter. GAN LEE showed speed for three-eighths, then tired. APRONETTE was rushed into the lead quickly, set a swift early pace, but tired in the last quarter. AZABACHE was prominent for the entire trip, but failed to respond to strong urging. GALABANG tired after being well up for a half mile. The latter, close up from the start and. in hand, moved up in menacing fashion in the last eighth, bore out on the turn and lost ground. PORTFOLIO was prominent all the way and held on with good courage under good urging. DEVILISH NICK tired after being well up for five-eighths and was lame after the race. DISPELLER, away well, dropped back soon thereafter and improved his position gradually after going a half mile. ROCKMELIAN acted badly at the gate, began sluggishly and was always far back. HURRY HAWK improved position gradually, responded readily to vigorous handling in the stretch and was wearing down the winner. PAT KING worked her way up between horses and closed strongly.
