JAPAN IGNORES PROTEST WASHINGTON, D. C, Nov. 12. The American government has lodged new protests with Japan over stoppage of river traffic on the Yangtze, protests which thus far have been ignored by Japan, it was learned today. - Official action was taken by Ambassador Joseph C. Grew at Tokio, and by American authorities at Hankow. The representations were made in connection with Japans occupation of Hankow. Secretary of State Hull said in response to questions at his press conference that Japan has not yet indicated its attitude on the representations nor has it given any definite indications as to when it intends replying to the sharp protest of October 6, in which this government accused Japan of attempting to shut the "open door" into China and demanded a cessation of discriminatory acts against American rights.
