OTTOMAN was prominent from the beginning, met determined opposition from VELVET MASK, then disposed of him through the last eighth. VELVET MASK took command soon after the start, made a game bid to go along with the winner, but was not good enough, although holding on in determined fashion to . the close. EBLIS worked his way up steadily and finished with good courage in the final drive. LOTTAFUN closed a good gap after being well back early. SPARKLING had .good speed, but was unable to keep up during the last three-sixteenths. FELSA tired. MY SURPRISE, slow to begin and far back until the last five-sixteenths, came with a rush through the stretch and was along in the closing strides to wear down MUGGINS. The latter, was rated along back of the pace for the first three-eighths-, moyed up stoutly on the inside to gain command and, fighting it out gamely, just failed to hold on long enough. DIZZY DAME was unable to keep up early, came willingly . in the drive and was up in the last strides to outlast WORTHING. The latter, outpaced early, came with good energy in the closing drive. BLACK RHAPSODY was hard hustled from the start, then tired in the last three-sixteenths. GRAND LIGHT was well placed early, but faltered in the closing drive. GALLANT STROKE was steadied along in back of the leaders until reaching the stretch, responded gamely to hard urging and, wearing down the leaders, was along in the closing strides. LADY INFINITE worked her way up gradually and came with good energy through the stretch. JANE VITO disposed of REMARKABLE for the lead in the run through the back stretch and, holding on determinedly through the closing stages, was not quite good enough. CHANCER raced well placed throughout, but was unable to close any ground when called upon. WAXWING was prominently placed, but was unable to threaten. HI CLIFF, slow to leave the stalls, lacked the speed to enter into contention, although passing tired horses through the stretch. FROZEN MASK was unable to keep up. WAR ADMIRAL, unruly at the post, was started from outside of the stalls, was taken under slight restraint while in closest chase of MUCHO GUSTO until straightening out in the back stretch, moved up readily on the outside and raced to the front at the half-mile post, was still under reserve, then opened up a big lead and was being eased up at the end. MUCHO GUSTO raced to the front in the opening strides, drew clear when the turn into the back stretch was reached, was given a breathing spell midway of the turn and came with good energy in the stretch, but was no match for the winner. BUSY K. was unable to keep pace early and moved through on the inside leaving the back stretch, only to tire slightly during the last three-sixteenths and barely held on long enough to hold FAIR STEIN safe. The latter was going willingly at the end after being far back until the last quarter. GRAY JACK saved ground all the way. PALAMEDE trailed throughout. HOLLUSCHICKIE was permitted to settle into his best stride and did not start to better his position until the last three-eighths and closed in willing fashion, getting up in the closing stride to "wear down PUMPGUN. The latter, unruly at the post, was started from outside the stalls, raced to the Front in the opening strides, met determined opposition from BOMBER, disposed of him and, making a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, was not good enough. DARK BEAU outran his field to the first turn and, rated along in front, repulsed a determined bid from BIT OF SORROW when reaching the far turn and, despite holding on gamely, was not quite good enough. LIBERTY TORCH was far back early, then came with good energy during the last five-sixteenths. CASINGHEAD moved up gradually on the outside and Finished willingly, although unable to threaten the leaders. DEAD CALM was never a factor. BIT OF SORROW, in closest pursuit of the early pace, attempted to come through oh the inside, was pinched back, had to be eased and was unable to recover.
