GARCIA PLANS TO FIGHT ONLY AS A MIDDLEWEIGHT NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. 26. Ceferino Garcia, the Filipino, who Friday night failed for the second time to win the welterweight title, announced Saturday that hereafter he will fight only as a middleweight. Garcia revealed that he was forced to dry out almost three pounds on the final day of training to make the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for his fight with Henry Armstrong. "I can no longer make that kind of weight and keep my strength," said Garcia. "If I had been my usual self I would have knocked him out. Three times I had him in a bad way. Two days after the fight was postponed because of an injury to Armstrong I weighed 15994 pounds and I had only a short time in which to take off about thirteen pounds. Hereafter I am going to fight in the middleweight class."
