SATURDAYS BOWIE CARD CANCELED;TR ACKFROZEN . -a a a . TRACK TOO DANGEROUS Endurance Handicap to Be Run on Monday Extra Day December 1. Next Thursdays One -Day Conflict With Charles Town Unavoidable Entries for Stake Stand. BOWIE, Md., Nov. 26 For the third time in its history, racing had to be postponed at Prince Georges Park, due to an unseasonable snowfall, which left the mile track in such bad condition that it was impossible for horses to run over it without endangering themselves and theije, riders. At an early hour today the track was frozen solid and no attempts were made to work over it. When the sun came out it was a chill one and the ice failed to thaw enough to permit racing, though during the afternoon some horses exercised at a slow pace. On every one of the occasions that the meeting has had to be halted, snow and frigid weather was responsible. The postponement was a bad break for the Southern Agricultural Association, as it loses a Saturday, though the racing commission has given them permission to continue next Thursday, December 1, to make up-for the lost day. That is only a minor break, for there is no chance of as large a crowd or as good a mutuel handle, as there would have been today, under favorable conditions. Then, too, the association went into the red yesterday, when one of the lightest crowds of the tracks history was present, with an extremely light mutuel handle. SAME FIELD STANDS. The Endurance Handicap, slated as todays feature, will be run on Monday, and the field for the race stands. Headed by Xalapa Clown, which is top weight, with 126 pounds, it promises to provide an interesting contest, for, with a warm Sunday and the same sort of weather the following day, the track should be cither muddy or heavy at the very worst. There is a chance that Xalapa Clown may default if the footing is too tough, as the connections of the Eternal colt hardly would care to take a chance of injuring him for a ,000 purse. Right now, they value him at 5,000. His absence will be pleasing to owners of lesser candidates, especially Mrs. C. Lyon, owner of Johns Heir, a youngster which was picked up for ,500 via the halter route. He has a royal chance for victory with the lad from Xalapa Farm an absentee. Jack Campbell has arranged an excellent card for Monday, and the sport should be" of a high order, providing scratches do not Intervene. As a secondary attraction, he has the mile and a furlong Matapeake Handicap, a class "C" affair, which has drawn seven entries. This is a wide open affair, in which High Velocity, winner of the Grayson Stakes at Pimlico, is the top weight, under 120 pounds. Whether he can carry that to victory is questionable, as his one race over the track during the meeting was poor. GOOD JUVENILE EVENT. The Great Mills, a six furlongs juvenile event, has no less than eleven slated to go and there is no standout in this race, either. Charles F. is the only member of the party which has been a winner over the track, but it is questionable if he can cope with Watch Over, one which was just nosed out of the place prize by Black Bun, when Tiberius Continued on eighteenth page. The four remaining events which make up the program all are at a mile and seventy yards, or farther. On paper, it looks the most attractive program of the meeting. Only scratches can make it otherwise. By extending the meeting an extra day, Bowie will run in opposition to the Charles Town Inaugural. That is set for next Thursday. Its a tough break for the West Virginia track, though not as tough as the. postponement was for the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association. This will make the fall meeting one of the least profitable in many years.
