Oak-lawn Park Jockey Club will begin ah expansion program here next week that will see approximately 0,000 going into track improvements. Stable row, which is to begin receiving horses December 15, will be given a new dressing by a crew of thirty workmen for general manager P. J. Holmes takes great pride in boasting that Oaklawns stalls are among the neatest and best kept in the country. A new studio room, much larger than the present one, is to be built atop the grandstand to house the new high speed camera to be installed by Jimmy Jones. The room was designed by Jones and will be fitted out under his direction. A slight dressing of topsoil will be added to the track proper and additional drains will be placed along the rails. The oval has been known to dry out within twenty-four hours after a heavy downpour, but with added topsoil and extra drains track super-intendant Shrader is of the opinion it will dry out much faster. Workmen will also go over the entire heating plant to make any necessary repairs Oaklawn is one of the few winter and early spring tracks that has a glass enclosed, steam heated grandstand. Racing secretary Eugene Bury is expected here December 3 to begin passing upon applications for stalls. He met with track officials in St. Louis last week to discuss Oaklawns policy regarding stakes and races for two-year-olds the coming season. The track is to begin its annual thirty-day meeting February 27.
