PORSES AT TROPICAL PARK More Than 25,000 to Be Split; Among Winning Owners1, y Daily Average Distribution In Money for Initial Twenty-Day Meeting Will Be Approximately ,500. MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 26. Purses for the twenty-day Tropical Park first meeting, which will launch the Florida racing season in Miami on December 19, will be the same as at the first Gables meeting" last winter. Tropical will open the campaign with a run of twenty days and then the stable forces will split, some to race at Hialeah and others to ship to the Oriental Park meeting, which will open after the close of Cuba. Most of the Tropical Park official family will serve at the Cuban meeting. More than 25,000 will be distributed in purse money to horsemen during the twenty days first meeting at Tropical Park. The daily average for the eight-race card will be close to ,500. On week-days ,900 will be given away, and about ,500 on Saturdays. Highlights of the meeting will be the ,500 Christmas Handicap, an overnight event whict has featured the Gables holiday card since the track was built in 1932, and the ,000 E. Phocion Howard Memorial Handicap, the headliner on New Years Day: Tropical Parks first meeting will close on Tuesday, January 12. The second meeting will run thirty days, from March 6. through April 10.
