She went on from that triumph to add the Maryland and Washington Handicaps to her vie- tories. She was easily best of her sex in tho three-year-old division. Seven straight victories and no defeats was the remarkable juvenile record of El Chico, son of John P. Grier La Chica, owned by William Ziegler, Jr., whose maro Esposa was rated almost equal with Marica in the older division. El Chico made his debut at Saratoga in August, won the Saratoga Special, and went on from there to score in the United States Hotel, Great American, Dover, Youthful, Junior Champion and Hopeful Stakes. He was not eligible for the Belmont Futurity.
