CALIENTES SUNDAY PROGRAM Secretary Walter Assembles Attrac- . tive Card for Holiday Afternoon. Los Angeles Handicap Outstanding Event ; Old Maid Assigned Top Weight of 117 Pounds. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Nov. 26. Another chapter of racing history will be written into the annals of thoroughbred sport when the Baja California Jockey Club presents its first Sunday offering of the current season. Racing secretary Joseph E. Walter has assembled a rather attractive presentation for the holiday entertainment. Nine of the best distance performers on the grounds will make the contest in the Los Angeles Handicap, the principal race, and they will test their speed and stamina over the mile and one-sixteenth distance. Earl Simpsons Old Maid was honored in the weight assignments, drawing an allotment of 117 pounds. There are indications that the owner is casting around for the best available rider, for he named no jockey at the closing time of entries. Crete, in the stable of F. E. Childs, will receive a concession of two pounds from Old Maid, while Distribute, which will have Brass Bottle as a running companion as the E. E. Presnell entry, is slated to race under an impost of 114 pounds, two more than Brass Bottle. Stepping up from the claiming ranks is J. Solzseks Shortbread, which gets in the race with 110 pounds. The weights scale down to 104, which will be carried by the Rancho Prospecto Stables Wise Ace. Morgan and Bucks Severe and J. Roses War Games round out the field. CHIEF SUPPORTING RACE. The fifth, fashioned for sprinters from among the topnotchers, will be the chief supporting race and will undoubtedly furnish one of the most thrilling events of the day. For this such speedsters as E. Neals Marchline, T. Clossons Browneyed Pat, Bur-rus and Bacas Fervorita, Mrs. E. McCowns Oakham, Houts and Boxs Red Checker, A. B. Jones Annoyed and Mohac, are entered. Another attractive race is the third. While this will engage a band of the less capable sprinters, there are indications that it will be one of the most bitterly fought contests of the day. Among those most prominent are Rare Tree, Four Aces, James V., Mor- Continued on eighteenth page. CALIENTES SUNDAY PROGRAM Continued from first page. class, Beginners Bait, Truebuck and Tyne-mouth. Starting the days proceedings will be a test of one mile, for three-year-olds and upward. This is truly an evenly matched band, with eight made eligible to start. It is probable that F. E. Childs Mekong will rule the choice, but he is no standout over such performers as Allegrezza, Misme and Thistle Sis. To protect any emergency which might arise overnight, secretary Walter has carded a substitute, to be used if needed. General manager Lou Anger and his associates are looking forward to a larger crowd than that which was on haridjHaiiksgiving Day and are making .preparations for the occasion. The crews in every department will be reinforced to care for: the wants of the fans, so there will be no waiting for service. Charlie Rosengarfen, who was forced by increasing weight to hang up his riding tack last spring, is now an agent for jockey Don Fay.
