WEST END PURSE HEADLINER Seven Named for Mile and An Eighth Contest at Crescent Citys Fair Grounds Today. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 29. The West End Purse, a contest of a mile and a furlong for better grade platers, will be the principal race on Wednesdays program here at the Fair Grounds. Only seven were named for the feature, but they appear to be well matched and a good race should result from t their meeting. At least one in the field already has graced the winners circle here. It is Mrs. H. C. 3 Rumages Oddesas Pride, which raced to A victory here last Saturday over a field of s similar quality as that which he opposes tomorrow. 1 The son of Petee-Wrack was the 1 longest priced horse in the race and, coming J from behind in the last quarter mile, got up to win by a length under the urging of apprentice Ted Atkinson, who will be astride J 1 him again tomorrow. Among those which followed in his wake were Prince Sador, Double R. and Loafer, J none of which, however, is in the West End 3 Purse field tomorrow. Scheduled to match strides with Oddesas Pride tomorrow are Unparalled, Labor Day, Straight Thru, Bess B., Agnes Knight and J Pakala. The West End Handicap was to have been offered as tomorrows principal event, but it was declared off for want of sufficient entries. It was a sprint of six furlongs and a number of those which ordinarily might have taken part in it were under colors here 1 this afternoon. There are several races on tomorrows U program, besides the feature, which should 1 appeal to the fans and, if the weather remains J pleasant, another large crowd should be in attendance.
