MICHIGAN FLYER, steadied along for three-eighths and able to save ground, was brought out when unable to get through next to the rail entering the stretch and wore down PATROL SCOUT inside the last seventy yards. PATROL SCOUT, a sharp factor from the beginning, took command with a rush after entering the stretch and held on well, but could not stall off the winner. STREET ARAB had good speed from the beginning, was hard ridden in the last quarter and held on fairly well. JAMES, outrun for a half mile, closed well. FUMBLE, never far back and in hand for three-eighths, responded to urging thereafter and, after wearing down DUCMISS, stalled off TRAMWAY. The latter, hustled along from the beginning, was bumped badly by VALDINA on the stretch turn and then closed boldly. SKIPPY McGEE, a sharp factor from the beginning, was hard ridden after throe-eighths and held on well in the drive. DUCMISS made the pace without need of strong pressure, held on well to the last eighth and then tired. UPHOLDER made up ground in the last quarter. LEEORAN tired after showing good speed for a half mile. VALDINA, vigorously handled from the beginning, bore in sharply on TRAMWAY, on the stretch turn, tired and showed traces of having bled. ZAT SO, never far back, was put to pressure after three-eighths and closed gamely, just missing. ANN STAR made the pace under occasional urging and held on well in the drive, but was not good enough. STORMY SEA began to improve her position after a quarter and closed well. PRINCE JEAN had good early speed, dropped back after a quarter and raced evenly thereafter. TOMS LADY quit. TIGHT-MOUTH tired. WAR JEST was taken up sharply when placed in close quarters on the stretch turn. MY DESS broke into the air. RED GARTER, a sharp factor from the beginning, was hard ridden after a half mile and closed well. CELTIC LEGEND, hard ridden from the start, raced a trifle wide and tired in the. last eighth. JUST AHEAD made up some ground in the last quarter, . WILLOW WAND raced wide. RED MAGIC had good speed for five-eighths, then quit. . . . MIXWELL, a strong factor from the start, assumed a slight lead approaching the final quarter and continued gamely, but was not good enough. PHALASAN set the pace under extreme pressure for most of the trip and tired in the drive. . MASTERPIECE, never- far back, improved his position slightly in the late stages.
