RICH STAKES CLOSING December 1 Final Day for 00,000 Handicap and 0,000 Derby. General Manager Strub Believes " Both Santa Anita Stakes Will Attract More Than 100 Eligibles. ; ARCADIA, Calif., Nov. 29 The Los Angeles Turf Club reports the usual late rush in connection with the closing of nominations for the 00,000 added Santa Anita Handicap and the 0,000 added Santa Anita Derby on midnight tomorrow. By wire, mail and in person, the horsemen are filing the entry blanks and subscribing 00 each for the handicap and 5 for the Derby to make their candidates eligible. Another rush is anticipated tomorrow, andS many wait until the last minute to get in. From the nominations already in and the prospects from the late comers, general manager Charles H. Strub still expects each of the rich events to attract more than a hundred eligibles, with the large number of candidates already on the grounds, or in training, indicating large fields will go to the post. After time is allowed for entries postmarked December 1 to arrive, the Los An-;geles Turf Club will make public the handicap list Wednesday, December 7, and the Derby list Wednesday, December 14. , WEIGHTS DECEMBER 15. The next move will be the posting of weights for the handicap on December 15. The Derby weights have already been set at 120 pounds. Then the condition starts and the day before the race it will cost 50 to pass the entry box and an additional 50 to start in the big race on March 4. The entry for the Derby is 00 and an additional 00 to start on February 22. If estimates hold up, each of the events ! will build up stakes that will be higher in .value than for the past four runnings.
