I TANFORAN TURF NOTES f 8 Pinkey Grimes has turned the good handicap horse Today over to W. W. Taylor to train. Grimes had been conditioning the animal for owner Neil McCarthy, but when Today was shipped t Santa Anita he was transferred to the care of Taylor, as Grimes must remain at Tanforan with the horses of Louis B. Mayer. Star Scout, which broke down Tanforan recently, may be saved for a saddle horse, according to his trainer. It is doubtful if he will ever race again. The following horses have been added to the stewards list because of soreness or lameness: Naseby, Sun Portland, Supreme Court, Dipperconard, Disgrace and Extra Special. Jockey J. Boucher, who was recently injured in an automobile accident, has been released from the hospital, but it will be some time before he will resume riding. Jockeys Raymond Adair and Alex Schlenker figured in an auto accident Sunday. The boys escaped with a few minor cuts and bruises. Carvola, filly by Carlaris, which was recently purchased by C. S. Howard, is reported to be en route to the West. The miss has been performing in good company. Lonnie Copenhaver reports that the English horse Perifox is training in a satisfactory manner and looks for him to prove one of the bright stars of winter racing. Freddie Scheih and Frank Scheihing, both riding at Tanforan, are brothers. Frankie being the elder, is using the family name, while to avoid confusion Freddie dropped the "ing" from his "moniker." J. H. Moore has purchased the Washington-bred Bern o Due from H. Newell. Terms were private. F. Gadberry will do the training. Two Sons has been passed upon to start by the track veterinarian. The animal came out of his last race sore. L. Bridgford has purchased the useful two-year-old Ned S. from the New York-Southern Stable. D. Bogart acted as agent in the transaction. Mrs. R. E. Cooper, whose Mintouri and Lovely Bells finished first and third respectively in Saturdays Lassie Stakes, was an arrival from Oregon, where she has been visiting. Jockeys Ned Merritt and Clyde Turk were arrivals from Caliente, where they rode during the first four days of that meeting. T. Hart Nesbit, owner of a small string racing at Tanforan, Avas an arrival from his home in Pomona. Tommy OBrien, minus pool expert and former managing director of pari-mutuel wagering at Caliente, has departed for the Southland to await the opening of Santa Anita. Old-timers among Tanforan patrons were grieved to leai-n of the death Monday of Frank P. Noon of the San Francisco Call-Bulletin. Frank "covered" the Tanforan races for his paper when racing was revived at the Marchbank course. He had been ill for about three months.
