THE LAKE, a forward contender from the start, responded gamely to hard urging in the. stretch and, finishing well, held DROMBO safe. The latter was close up from the start and, going gamely to the finish, was beaten but narrowly. DRACO had a rough trip, being in close quarters several times, then came to the outside in the stretch to be forced wide, but finished well. THE DARB made a strong move after entering the stretch, but tired near the finish. MAID OF PERTH had the most early speed, but raced wide in the stretch and tired. PETER F. was taken back when in close quarters nearing the stretch turn and was never dantrorous thereafter. WILDRUN and MARY CARMEN seemed outclassed. Scratched 69302 Jean Cloud, 105. PATRIOTIC raced to the front early to open up a good lead and, going well to the finish, was never In serious danger. PRINCE HEATHER, always closest to the winner, closed steadily and was easily best of- the others. PROUD INDIAN dropped back rounding the far turn, but came again in the stretch. CLOUD DOR never threatened the first two and tired in the run home. DOLAWAY was in close quarters tin the inside in the early running. TAKEME tired. Scratched 69302 Flying Heir, 111. DEER FLY, taken under restraint after rounding the first turn, followed the pace of BELOW ZERO closely to the far turn, then took command to widen on his opponents as he pleased and finished far in front. BELOW ZERO was not good enough to withstand the challenge of the. winner, but had no trouble holding BAR PLAY. The latter finished fairly well. AMNERIS closed some ground in the last quarter. STEP BY followed the early pace under restraint to the stretch, then came steadily to wear down BRILLIANT LIGHT and held the latter safe in a drive. BRILLIANT LIGHT took command after going half the distance and raced well when challenged to finish close to the winner. SKEETSHOOTER saved ground in the stretch and finished well. PITTER PAT showed speed in spots and was going well at the finish. BACHELORS BOWER tired after making a move on the outside on the stretch turn. BON HAMBURG was done after moving up on the inside rounding the far turn. KHAYYAM dropped back when the real racing began.
