WAR ADMIRALS FUTURE PLANS May Continue to Race Throughout 1939 and Entry to Stud Postponed for Another Year. LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 12. War Admiral will continue racing throughout the 1939 season it was stated here today by his owner, Samuel D. Riddle, who is here with trainer George Conway to inspect Man o War and his breeding stock at Faraway Farms. The son of Man o War and Brushup, which will be five years old January 1, had been booked to fifteen mares for the breeding season next spring, but Harrie B. Scott, Faraway manager, today began asking the subscribers if they would agree to wait another year. The original plan was to send War Admiral to Miami to compete in the Widener Challenge Cup March 4, after which he would be brought here to enter the stud. Trainer Conway said the colt was in such splendid condition at the Riddle training grounds at Berlin, Md., that barring unforeseen circumstances he could be expected to put in another useful year of racing. So, if all goes well with War Admiral in Florida, he will continue with the Conway band when it returns North to Berlin in the spring, after which the horse will go to Belmont Park. When asked concerning the possibility of another match with Seabiscuit, Riddle said while he didnt particularly care about match events, he would welcome another meeting with Seabiscuit. Concerning the probability of such a clash at Hialeah Park, the Philadelphia sportsman said there was a possibility of it, either in a special race or in the Widener, with an increase in the purse beyond the present added value of 0,000.
