SWEET NANCY moved up steadily on the inside in the back stretch and, running a good race, went well to the finish. DEAR DIARY was outrun to the last quarter, then came steadily. HEELPLATES ran his race, but was not good enough. MASK AND WIG tired in the stretch. BUBBLING BOY acted badly at the post and was never a serious contender. TRIPLANE, close to MOUNT VERNON II. in the early running, moved to the front of the latter when straightened out for home to take a good lead, but had to be hard ridden near the finish to hold WILD TURKEY. The latter lacked early speed, but came strongly around on the outside in the last quarter to finish fast under hard urging and barely missed. PALA CHIEF swerved over on COUNT PAN at the start, but soon raced into contention and went well thereafter. BARNSLEY made up some ground. MOUNT VERNON II. had no excuses and quit in the stretch. .
