GOLDEN MAYNE, slow to settle into his best stride, gradually improved his position on the turn, secured racing room between horses in the stretch and, under vigorous handling, was able to hold SURE MISS safe. The latter, always in a contending position, secured a short lead in the stretch while saving ground on the inside and gave way to the winner, but came again at the end. TIMETTA, slow to find her speed, lost much ground on the turns and finished stoutly on the outside. KISSIN KID, in close quarters on the turn, finished well when clear. Won driving; second and third the same. MISS WING, close to the pace of TOBIAS and on the outside, was kept clear of interference in the stretch and was up in the final stride. TOBIAS was rushed to the front immediately following the start, drew clear in the stretch, swerved to the inside when punished in the final sixteenth and bothered STAND BY on the inside, just failing to last. STAND BY, always in a contending position, saved ground on the inside entering the stretch, was in tight quarters and was forced to take up sharply when bothered by TOBIAS and had no chance thereafter. A foul was claimed by STAND BYS rider, but was not allowed. MERIGA closed a good gap. WOOD KNOT was never a serious contender. ELEGANT DAME quit. CAUTIOUS BO, well placed from the start, secured racing room on the inside entering the stretch, gradually wore down the leaders and was slowly drawing away at the. end. KEYED UP moved up threaten-, ingly in the back stretch, stumbled, but recovered when nearing the far turn, came wide entering the stretch and finished well on the outside. HI BEN raced FLICKAMARU into submission to take command in the back stretch, then drew clear on the turn, but tired. FLICKAMARU flashed good early speed, but tired. LAPIS could not menace. CHICANNA raced evenly, but was never dangerous. The others were outrun. EBLIS, always in a contending position, was well rated close to the pace of the winner, made determined bids to reach the front in the stretch and just failed to get up. WHIZZAWAY raced evenly throughout, but was no match for the first two. JABBERIE, sluggish in the early stages, closed a good gap. MOON HARVEST could never threaten seriously. MISS PECAN fras never a factor. BRAINCHILD quit early. CALEB lost his rider when he stumbled in "the stretch. STAR MINT lacked early speed to match that of the winner, stumbled badly in the back stretch and all but lost her rider, recovered and finished very fast. TEDDYS STAR, always well placed, moved up with a challenge in the stretch, but tired. CANROCK raced evenly. GAtANTHUS closed some ground, LEAD PLEASE had some early speed. FREE, well up in the early stages, took a short lead between calls as LITTLE WACKIE was being waited with, could not -withstand the winner, but was easily best of the others. AUFOIN had some early, speed, but could not keep up. MONOCACY closed ground after being sluggish in the early racing. HARD CHASE could not keep up. FLYING CHEROKEE could not engage the leaders.
