RULING AFTER SALIVA TEST CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., Dec. 12. H. N. Steward, trainer of the Empress Stable of E. Hemstead of Toronto, was suspended by the stewards when it was learned that the horse, Tommy Rose, which won and was disqualified in the sixth l-ace on December 1, showed a positive reaction to the saliva test which showed the presence of caffeine. The ; stewards meted out a ninety-day period to j the trainer and referred the case to the West Virginia Racing Commission for whatever further action they deemed necessary. The suspension will expire on March 14, 1939. Tommy Rose, Maple Tints and Nights End also come under the suspension until such time as another trainer has been appointed and approved by the stewards.
