SOUTH AMERICANS ARRIVE Five Argentine Horses Reach Port Four Going West, While Sorteado Goes to South Carolina. t ! SAN BRUNO, Calif., Dec. 12. Another set, of Argentine runners destined for West Coast racing set foot on American soil Monday, when five foreigners the property of the Bing-Lin Stable checked in from Buenos Aires, via New York. They completed a steamer trip from South America late last week and were immediately loaded on a waiting express car and sent westward. The horses, which were quartered at the Burlingame polo grounds in the private stable of Lin Howard, are Profundo, which finished third in the 100,000 peso Grand Premio; Etolia, reputedly a fast filly; Don Mike, Ras Taffari and Preceptor. All are South American winners, and Don Mike has been named for the Santa Anita Handicap. The triple stake winner Sorteado, which accompanied the Bing-Lin quintet from South America, was not shipped to the Coast. He was sent to Columbia, S. C, to join Sea-, biscuit, which is resting at that point fol- lowing his eastern campaign. Sorteado will likely accompany Seabiscuit to Florida. The Latin star will race for Charles S. Howard and will be trained by Tom Smith. Another South American will make his" first appearance in this country Tuesday when Beti Bat, Mrs. James F. Waters re-1 cent improvement, goes postward. Beti Bat has been training at Tanforan for several weeks, and before that he had some light gallops at Ventura, dockers report him fit. He has been nominated for the San Francisco Handicap, to be run at the March-bank course on closing day.
