Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. UPDO dwelt at the start and moved up on the outside, was placed under pressure rounding the far turn, came to the outside in the stretch run and Finished fast, wearing down PIRATE SHIP in the final drive. The latter showed speed from the start, raced COLORED POST into defeat, saved ground and then held on well. MILLTEA showed early speed, dropped back and then came again on the inside at the -end. MESS was in close quarters rounding the far turn and ran into close quarters rounding the stretch turn. COLORED POST showed early speed, but quit badly. RUNNING CEDAR showed a good effort. COUNT EDWARD was taken under restraint and, reserved off the early pace, moved up rounding the stretch turn while on the outside, disposed of the leaders and was drawing away at the end. DEVILS MATE forced the pace from the start, raced HIGHSCOFE into defeat and then held on with good courage. HIGHSCOPE showed early speed while saving ground and had no mishaps. FOOLED lacked early speed and made up some ground at the end. CHARMING HEROD was outrun the first part. STATE WITNESS had no mishaps in the running. BELLRINGER showed an even effort all the way. TIME PASSES began slowly and was outrun the first part, improved his position and finished well. FLYING LANCER showed speed from the start, raced ROYAL VENTURE into defeat and had no mishaps. JINX BUSTER, from a slow beginning, finished fast on the outside. OFF GUARD showed a good effort throughout. KENS REVENGE dwelt at the start. MEDRANO raced evenly throughout. GENERALIS could not menace the leaders. SUBSTANTIAL had no mishaps. GRANDIFLORA was outrun. ROYAL VENTURE had a flash of early speed. CUT EMERALD quit badly. CURLIQUEUE, in near pursuit of the early pace, made, a determined bid when urged and then faltered in the. stretch run.
