THREE NEW APPRENTICES HAVE THEIR FIRST MOUNTS 1 | COLLTNSVILLE, 111., May 10.— Three newly-licensed apprentices had the thrill of riding for the first time Tuesday at Fairmount Park. Two of the lads had mounts in the t same race, Oren Stroud and William Hen-drex . accepting mounts in the second event, and the diminutive Frank Holtons mount ; came in the third event. Stroud is 16 years of age and a native of Goreville, 111. He is under contract to C. H. Roberts, and rode Rolled Notes, which finished [ third. Hendrex, who was up on Phalamo, is under contract to G. F. Jenkins and J. H. Tate, and scales at 101 pounds. He hails from Farmersville, Texas. Holton, an East St. Louis, 111., boy, contracted ta J. Umensetter, piloted Fast Start for the initial mount of his career. He is 17 years of age arid weighs eighty-two pounds. -— — ♦ _
