BALTIMORE, Md., May 10.— King Ranchs Ciencia and William L. , Branns Challeddn were sent through public trials between the second and third races this afternoon at Pimlico in preparation for their engagements Saturday in the Preakness. The track was good in contrast to the slow condition prevailing this morning. The Texas-owned filly, winner of the Santa Anita Derby, showed no effects from .the injury she suffered in being unloaded from a van here last week and which caused her to sidestep the Pimlico Oaks. She worked a mile and one furlong in 1:55% handily. Breaking away at the top of the stretch and paced by a stablemate for a quarter, the daughter of Cohort arid Science was timed the opening quarter in :23%, half in :47%, three-quarters in 1:12% and the mile in 1:40. Challedon, hard held all the way, worked around the track from the mile post, his time being 1:41%. The Maryland colt went the opening quarter in 25 seconds, the half in :50 and three quarters in 1:14%.
