PACK SADDLE, slow to begin and outrun for the first three-eights, was brought to the outside when reaching the stretch and. closing stoutly out beyond the middle of the track, was going gamely at the end. CONSTITUTIONAL followed along in nearest attendance of the early pace and fought ,t out stubbornly. TAUT was hustled to the front, opened up a daylight advantage over his closest attendant in the f.rst quarter mile, was rated along under slieht restraint and tired when placed under punishment through the closing eighth. SUNABELL closed a big" gap. BLACKY BEE saved a lot of at the stretch turn. MAELONG had brief ground early speed. PEON, well placed for the" first "■=■. half mile, faltered in the closing drive. RUN BY, away fast, but unable to maintain his position, responded gamely throuch the stretch run. MUMBLE, away well, disputed the early pace, but tired in the last five sixteenths. CLOSE QUARTERS, well placed early, gained a short lead after meeting bold opposition from LIKA THAT and faltered through the closing eighth. BRIGHT BEAM raced to the front in the opening eighth, opened up a good lead, but lost much ground entering the stretch and was going gamely at the close. ANXIETY was reserved in close attendance of the pace, moved up threateningly when the leader raced wide at the stretch turn and, while holding on gamely, was not good enough. MAROC improved his position gradually after saving all possible ground. MISTER MAJOR was hard hustled in the run throush the back stretch and tired slightly after the first half mile. PHARO WARRIOR closed some ground. BLUE TINTS was unable to make up any ground. KNIGHTS SOX was held safe throughout. SAVANT had brief earlv speed. MUTINOUS, reserved early, raced to the leader readily when called upon, but was unable to close any ground through the stretch drive. OPEN GATE was slow to begin, raced into contention with a rush nearing the far turn and held on gamely in the closing test. STAR WAGON was unable to engage the leaders. CHIEF ONAWAY, steadied along back of the pace until midway through the back stretch, raced to the leaders steadily, assumed command after rounding from the back stretch, went into a safe lead when reaching the stretch, but began loafing nearing the finish and had to bo placed under a vigorous hand ride when BONNY IMP challenged. The latter, a trailer early, worked his way up steadily and closed with good courage through the stretch. THE SERF had good speed from the start and disposed of FLOAT AWAY, but was unable to keep pace when challenged, although holding on willingly to the end. PIT TERRIER, restrained early, was unable to close any ground when called upon. FLOAT AWAY had early speed. PF.TERHOF was unable to keep up. Apprentice allowance waived — Pit Terrier, 113. COMBAHEE, not hurried during the early racing, was reserved until the last five-sixteenths, moved up fast on the outside and, gaining a slight lead in the stretch, fought it out stubbornly and outlasted COL. GOODNIGHT at the close. GOL. GOODNIGHT moved up gradually on the inside down the far side of the track, took command after rounding from the far tuin and fought it out determinedly, although not quite good enough. LOVICK was forwardly placed fiom the start, disposed of BIOLOGIST and continued with good energy to the close. CONRAD MANN dropped farther back than usual during the early running and, while closing some ground, was never a threat. DAYTONIAN raced wide the entire trip. BIOLOGIST tired. SEA GULL, slightly reserved while forcing the pace of SHANTIME, gained a slight lead when reaching the stretch and, responding gamely to hard riding, outlasted MISS PECAN at the end. MISS PECAN began working her way forward when straightening out in the back stretch, saved ground until reaching the stretch, came to the outside of the pacemaker in the stretch and, while closing gamely, was not quite good enoush. TIEMPO, a trailer until leaving the back stretch, made up some ground during the stretch run, gettinj up in the concluding stride to wear down DEVILS PACE. The latter was unable to close any eround when placed under pressure. SHANTIME tired badly in the last eighth. The others wore outrun. Scratched -75937 Vital Lady, 100.
