A spill marred the running when the Do-| - •minion Stables Shimmering, after finding, t difficulty in negotiating the turns, stumbled 1 j the final turn and fell, causing Mrs. F. W. . Merrills Westys Hero to fall over her. Jock- - 1 eys Osborne and Remillard, astride the two, i, I were thrown clear and were unhurt. | A good crowd witnessed the second days s program and was greatly augmented when i the gates were thrown open following the e I feature race. A decided rise in temperature e j made the program more enjoyable, while e 1 i the track was at its best. ; There was only a slight delay at the start t | of the Forest Hill and they were away in i 1 good order. Clarksdale drove to the lead at t once, followed by Shimmering and Speed. As they made the first turn and came to 0 I the stand for the first turn of the track, :, I Clarksdale held the lead, racing a length be- :- fore Shimmering, while Speed was a length 1 and one-half back. At the paddock turn n Shimmering moved up on the outside of f Clarksdale. but attempted to bolt. When straightened away in the back k stretch, McTague called on Speed and, . driving him through on the inside of Clarks- dale, took command. As they sped down the back stretch Trajectory and Spearman drove e up fast on the outside. Leaving the back k stretch Speed drew clear, while Spearman ! moved around Shimmering and Clarksdale. Shimmering again attempted to duck out ,i and in straightening stumbled and fell, i Westys Hero coming on to fall over her. Entering the stretch Spearman made a bold bid, but McTague again called on Speed H and in the drive to the end he drew clear r 1 again. Spearman was before Trajectory by y a length and one-half at the end. •
