NEW YORK, N. Y., June 19.— Tomorrow is the day on which New Jersey will decide whether it will have pari-mutuel betting. Throughout the states twenty-one counties a special election will be held and it looks as if New Jersey will be added to the list of more than twenty states that have legalized betting on horse races, with the machines as the order of the day. The campaigns were brought to a close tonight with rival pro- grams on station WOR. The anti-racing speakers held forth for fifteen minutes from 11 to 11:15, and for the next fifteen minutes the horse racing amendment standard- bearers— Joseph M. Roebling, of Trenton; Amory L. Haskell, of Red Bank, and Ben nett K Tousley of Atlantic City— were heard- "GET OUT THE VOTE." There will be no bands playing nor parades in the state tomorrow. But there will be a lot of gasoline burned up on the highways of the state as both camps "get out the vote." There are many citizens in New Jersey who dont give a rap one way or another—but theyll be taxied to the polls by those who want to bring horse racing back after a lapse of more than forty years, or by those who seem determined to vote down the referendum. And how will the state vote? It is be-ansid- lieved the amendment will win by at least a 50,000 majority. More conservative esti-ice mates contend the election will be close and that those who favor betting will be fortunate to win out by 10,000 votes.
