LOUIS, Mo., June 19.— Al Sothoron, 46, former spitball pitcher who helped the St. Louis Cardinals win the pennant in 1926, died in a local hospital Sunday night of a complication of diseases. He had been ill but three weeks. Sothoron pitched for the St. Louis Browns, the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals. He later managed the Louisville team of the American Association and became a coach for the Browns in 1933. Then he be- came manager of the Milwaukee team of the American Association, but was released from that position last season.
