Kings Plate Renewal Will Test Small Field- Ten to Ace Solid Choice Among Half-Dozen Probable Starters TORONTO, Ont., May 20. The smallest Kings Plate field since Horometers victory in 1934 is the prospect for the coming renewal of Woodbine Parks historic fixture Saturday afternoon. When R. S. McLaughlins great Canadian-bred went postward only five opposed him, one of them R. W. R. Cowies Pitchblende, was coupled in the wagering, both being trained by Harry Giddings. Prohibitive odds of 1 to 20 prevailed on the entry in the running. -All indications point to Ten to Ace as an odds-on. choice this year and it seems unlikely that more than five or six others will be in the line-up. On the promise of training trials to date, Bills Gift shapes up as the principal contender. Mrs. R. E. Websters candidate has accomplished everything asked by trainer Hutton to this stage and, without mishap, is a definite starter! Clocklike Training Well Riverdale Stables Clocklike is going along in a manner to suggest that shell make the engagement. R. S. McLaughlin will likely have only one starter, Rhadagus. H. C. Hatch will be represented by Cossack Post. R. W. R. Cowies Muckle will probably make the grade and very likely Med-way Stables Depressor. Other than those mentioned, the remaining eligibles must be classified as doubtful. Trainer Bert Alexandra hasnt asked the Cosgrave Stables Patrisius for serious trials. Shepperton, since he pulled up "gimpey" at Thorncliffe, gets the same classification. From all appearances, Court Gallant, J. E. F. Seagrams Plate hope, belongs in the doubtful list, and Punta Rassa hasnt come up to the standard. . In training moves from here to Plate day, perhaps one or two others may show enough to warrant their appearance under silks, so scarcely more than eight can be expected when the bugle calls.
