Applications for Stalls At Longacres Pouring In Over 1,500 Requests Already Made for Summer Meeting SEATTLE, Wash., May 20. Applications for stall space have been pouring in to the Longacres management since the announcement that the regular summer meeting of the Washington Jockey Club will be held, starting Junand 27. With over 1,500 requests already received, general manager Joseph Gottstein announced that he is holding several stalls for the better grade horses and wishes to advise owners of this type of horses to write for reservations. With the curtailment of racing in California, several good horses were turned out on the various breeding and boarding farms throughout the state, and the operation of the Longacres summer meeting will give these horses an opportunity to compete for the many fine overnight handicaps and stake events to be offered. Although the purse distribution has not as yet been announced, Gottstein stated that the purses would be adjusted in accordance with the business done during the meeting. This policy has been followed since the opening of Longacres and has always met with the approval of -horsemen. The management is looking forward to l the biggest season in its history, and there is every reason to believe that the many handicap and stake offerings are bound to attract a goodly amount of handicap stars, especially from California and the western .states. The stakes program is augmented by the 0,000 Longacres Mile, an event established by Gottstein at the inaugural meeting and which enjoys national recognition. This feature attraction will undoubtedly draw the best handicap horses of the West this year, and there are many other stake and handicap events to prep these stars for the big event. .
