ZACABRAND went to the front immediately, drew clear and, kept under pressure through the last eighth, held NOSLEN safe. The latter, prominent from the start, was under hard riding, dropped back ncaring the stretch turn, then swung to the outside and came determinedly in the closing test. HOPEFUL REWARD moved up determinedly on the inside nearing the stretch and held on well to the end. MISS VOGUE, unable to reach the leaders early, closed stoutly. EPAWAY was unable to engage the leaders. HYDATE raced forwardly early, then dropped back in the last five-sixteenths. AFTER LUNCH was outrun. ANZAC," prominent from the start, gained a short advantage at the close of the first quarter, increased his advantage steadily thereafter and won as if much the best. LUSTROUS, well placed all the way, came willingly on the outside in the last eighth to be along in the closing stride to wear down ALL CRYSTAL. The latter worked his way up steadily, moved up willingly in the stretch and just failed to last for second place. MONTBARS moved up gradually on the inside in the first half mile, but was unable to make up any ground in the stretch. MILL IRON closed some ground after being outrun early. PEANUT LADY, steadied along within striking distance of the pace, moved up on the inside of the leader, took command after leaving the back stretch, drew clear and, kept under hard riding, was clear at the end. PARI-ERNEST, a trailer until rounding the far turn, moved up gradually on the inside and continued with good energy to the close. DIAVOLO CLIFF saved ground on the first turn and dropped back when rounding the far turn, but closed willingly, although never a threat to the first two. SUPREME IDEAL was unable to engage the leaders, although holding on gamely at the end. GRANDUN was never prominent. LAST FRONTIER bore out badly all the way, carried BUBBLE LIL wide and tired in the stretch. BUBBLE LIL was forced to lose much ground when carried wide by LAST FRONTIER and faltered in the last half mile. Scratched 23531 Howard, 109. Overweight Bubble Lil, 1 pound. FOURTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. HIGH MARTIN went to the front soon after the start, opened up a good lead and, rated along under slight restraint, met a bid from FRANCO SAXON and had enough in reserve to hold NOPALOSA ROJO safe. The latter, taken back of the pace through the back stretch, closed willingly in the drive and was gaining steadily at the end. PACIFICATION, outrun until straightening out in the stretch, finished with a rush. AIRSPRING raced prominently placed throughout, but was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. ENDED, forwardly placed, held on willingly under hard riding through the stretch. NATOMAS, hustled up on the inside to gain a short lead at the close of the first quarter, made a game bid -to go along with the winner, only to falter in the last eighth. WATCH OVER, prominent from the outset, wore down ROUGH TIME to gain a short lead in the stretch after saving ground, but was unable to cope with the bid of the winner. ROUGH TIME was forwardly placed all the way and held on with good energy in the closing drive. ITABO, well placed and under punishment nearing the stretch, failed to close any appreciable amount of ground. TAKING WAYS, a trailer early, was unable to enter into serious contention. The latter was forwardly placed all the way and held on with good energy in the final drive. SUPREME FLAG held on well after losing command and fought it out gamely to the close. PRIORITY was not hurried in the early running, moved up with a rush on the inside after leaving the back stretch, took command before reaching the stretch and opened up a good lead, but had to be hard ridden to stave off the bid of RECOATNA. The latter, far back until the last three-eighths, began working her way forwardly and came stoutly in the stretch. IDLE FANCIES, far back early, closed a big gap in the last quarter. HI-KID moved up on the outside after leaving the back stretch, but was unable to make up any ground in the drive. ALARMING failed to threaten. SHORTSTOP had speed from the start and opened up a clear lead, then faltered under punishment in the last quarter. SAVINGS BANK tired badly in the last half mile. Scratched 23531 In Dutch, 114.
