Vanderbilt Liberal Nominator To Stakes at Delaware Park WILMINGTON, Del., May 20. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, master of Sagamore Farm and president of the Maryland Jockey Club, is one of the leading nominators for the 13 stakes featuring the Delaware Park meeting which starts May 29. For the first time since the opening of the Delaware course in 1937, Mr. Vanderbilt has nominated extensively for the various fixtures which suit horses of all ages at the course on the outskirts of Wilmington. In all there have been a dozen nominations for the stakes. Among the horses named are Talent Scout, Rascal, Spare Man, Anthem and Impound, although the last named has been retired from racing. Detroits New turf Course DETROIT, Mich., May 20. Detroit racing devotees will be given opportunity to witness many contests over the new Lewis Turf Course which has been completed at the Fair Grounds track. Construction of the grass strip will make it possible to run several, events thereon before the 73-day meeting is a week old. The infield track is "about" seven furlongs and short hedges line the inside boundary. The first race, scheduled for decision on the Lewis Course, is one of "about" seven furlongs for three-year-olds and upward to be decided on Monday, May 25. The Toledo Handicap, which will have a ,000 purse value, will be run over the grass at the Fair Grounds on Wednesday, July 15. Several other important overnight features will be contested over the Lewis Course during the first 10 days of the meeting and, should these prove popular with the exacting Detroit racing followers, more of the same type sport will be offered.
