HIGHOMAR began slowly and finished with a rush. ALCA-GAL raced well. DAN CUPID lacked early speed. ALLMAR was never a dangerous factor. KNIGHTS QUEST II. could not keep up. . ZACOREL was in close quarters going to the far turn. NEAP faltered steadily in the stretch; SINGING TORCH had speed for a half mile. BOUNCALONG had no mishaps. CAPT. JAMES was outrun. MAD POLICY was sent to the front shortly after the start and, jumping well throughout, responded to light urging in the final eighth, then drew away. PICO BLANCO II. was a prominent factor all the way and moved up when urged, only to falter in the final seventy yards. BAGPIPE raced well throughout and had no mishaps. GLEN-NA-MONA, on the outside, had no mishaps. MEETING HOUSE dropped out of contention on the first turn of the field. SIMILAR had no mishaps. NIGHT HERON was never a factor. MILLRACE was outrun. BAY CARSE was taken back under restraint when outrun and, rounding the stretch turn, moved up fast, but began to drift out, then responded when urged and, finishing fast, wore down the" leaders in the final drive. AFGHANISTAN was kept forwardly placed from the start and, responding in the stretch, finished in a dead heat with SKIN DEEP. The latter forced-the pace from the start, shook off SPEED TO SPARE and hung at the finish. SCOTCH TRAP moved up when urged and faltered. RAPHAEL II. had no mishaps. SMILES was slow to begin and swerved under urging in the stretch. CHUCKLE had no mishaps. TRIBAL RULER was outrun. COPPERETTE could not keep up. LOTOPOISE went wide nearing the stretch.
