Greentree Stables Music Hall will be [ shipped here shortly to complete her training for the Pimlico Oaks on May 10. R. Sterling Clarks two Chesapeake-Preakness candidates, Bell-the-Cat and j Smolensko, will be shipped here from New | York in time to keep their engagements. Eddie Arcaro, who came here from New York to handle Bird Hawk and Expression for the Greentree Stable, departed for the Metropolitan area again directly after the days card. He will commute between the two points to do the saddle work for his contract employer. Just how many horses are stabled at Laurel was very much in evidence here opening day when no less than 24 head were brought over by van to take part in the inaugural card. Jockey Martin Bletzacker, having been denied a license on opening day, has been j straightened out to the satisfaction of the stewards and was scheduled to accept mounts here today. Harold Barnard, who handles the riding engagements for Henri Mora, has also • taken over the book of jockey Joe Delucia. The latter Will go to Charles Town follow-] ing this meeting, while Mora plans to make the Delaware Park meeting. Clifton White, president of the Cumber-I land Fair Association, was a visitor today, interesting horsemen in the coming meet-! ing at the Maryland half-mile course. Agent Jimmy Wallace has taken over the book of jockey Jimmy Thornburg and apprentice A. Snellings. The former reached peak form here last fall when he was do- I ing the most of H. G. Bedwells riding. Snellings had a fairly successful meeting at New Orleans this winter. One of the latest arrivals from the Miami sector was Lucius P. Harlan, who brought in his public stable of nine head. Jockey Freddie Smith has turned his book over to Red Crawford for the meeting. Smith will do a share of the riding for Warren Wrights Calumet Farm.
