Three -Year -Olds Meet at Jamaica Vie in Divided Amberjack Purse; Free Lance Entered In Second End of Feature JAMAICA, L. I,, N. Y., April 13.— Three-i year-olds hold the spotlight at Jamaica tomorrow, with several stakes candidates entered in the two divisions of the split Amberjack Purse, at six furlongs, which is the feature. Eight have been entered overnight for each division of this ,600 purse. The field for the first half of the Amberjack consists of Dock Stables War Dressing, N. .1. Asiels Harpsichord, Marise Farms Frisky Fire, Mrs. D. H. Peters Bull Dandy and Greentree Stables Dustman, who carry 117 pounds each; King Ranchs Salvo and J. J. Hanleys Brie a Bac, at 113, and Wheatley Stables Irish Tar, at 112. Bull Dandy indicated his fitness by a victory on opening day, when he was favorite for the second race of the season. He scored cleverly and in creditable time, I but meets some highly regarded colts here | and may be facing a more difficult task. Frisky Fire is a son of Firozepore, who raced well last year for Walter T. Wells and was acquired for a reported 5,000 by Louis Tufano. Hes a candidate for the Wood Memorial, to be run here a week from Saturday. Atkinson on Harpsichord Others who won last year and raced with less success in stakes are Harpsichord, Irish Tar and Dustman. Riders have been engaged for all but Brie a Bac, who ran fourth in the race won by Bull Dandy last Saturday. Gonzalez will ride War Dressing, Bobby Strange is on Frisky Fire, Ted Atkinson will pilot Harpsichord, Warren Mehrtens is assigned to Salvo, Jimmy Lynch will be aboard Bull Dandy, Bobby Permane draws Irish Tar and Eddie Arcaro will steer Dustman. The second division of the Amberjack will be the occasion for the Wheatley Stables Wood Memorial and Kentucky Derby candidate. Free Lance, to make his 1944 bow. This son of Sir Gallahad III.— Nile Maiden showed flashes of fine form in stakes last season, but appeared to stale off toward the end of the campaign. Ht has grown into a handsome colt, but is a lazy type in the morning and his actual racing ability is a question. Free Lance will carry 117 pounds and Johnny Breen and faces Sir Drake, Lawrinson, Napoo, Early Winter, Area and Uncle Ace with the same burden as well as Kopar, who gets in with 113.
