Kentucky Notes KEENELAND at Churchill Downs , Louisville, Ky., April 13. G. H. Stevens will be represented by eight head at the spring meetings, in charge of trainer W. J. Raybould. Raybould also has four juveniles for Lieut. Robert Young of Georgetown, Ky. C. H. Williams checked in from Lexington with Proud Lad, Palm Breeze and Petty Officer. They are quartered at Churchill Downs. Ralph Eccard brought his tack here from Hot Springs and reported to trainer Jack Hodgins, who has the Dixiana horses here. Eccard will pilot Amber Light in the Phoenix Handicap opening day. Charles Sanborn, who has the David Ferguson string on the grounds, reports that Wise Colors, a three-year-old daughter of Wise Counsellor, is training splendidly and will be pointed for her engagement in the 1944 edition of the Kentucky Oaks. Trainer Howard Hoffman stated that the I T. C. Melrose string unloaded without mishap after the long jaunt from Miami. Hoffman added that jockey Mike Caffarella checked in and will handle the riding chores for the string along with apprentice Joe Berz, whose contract was purchased the past winter from G. R. Bryson in Miami. Trainer Jack Carter brought in five head i from Tropical Park and bedded the string at Douglas Park. F. E. Murray, of Louisville, purchased the three-year-old Big Guy from the Brown Hotel Stable at private terms and turned the acquisition over to trainer V. Gousha. I Gousha wintered a string of eight head at ; Douglas Park for the local patron. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 13. Dr. F. A. Wehle returned from Columbia and Aiken, S. C, where he has been very active during the winter months. He reports that a majority of the horses quartered at the mentioned wintering grounds are well advanced in training. Dit, Arnold Hangers good stakes winner, who is training under Dan B. Mid-kiffs care, will be shipped to New York to join Max Hirschs stable.
