April 13.— The total of 0,000 stakes in New York racing was increased to five with the announcement of the increases for the Empire City meeting, which opens on Monday, July 3, and continues through Saturday, July 29. This meeting, which will be the first conducted under Col. Matt Winn since his return to the New York scene as president of the as-| sociation, has raised both the Empire City and the Butler to the status of 0,000 stakes. Five other stakes have been raised and the sum of 5,000 has been added for distributiion to men who race their horses at the Empire meeting. The stakes, with their increases and the dates of their running are as follows: Tuesday, July 4, Yonkers Handicap. 0,- 000 no change here*: 1 1-16 miles, three-| year-olds and over, won in 1943 by Apache, who also took it in 1942. Saturday, July 8, Empire City Handicap. 0,000. raised from 5,000: 1 3-16 miles, for three-year-olds, won in 1943 by Chop Chop. Demoiselle Now 0,000 Added Wednesday, July 12. Demoiselle Stakes, 0,000, raised from ,000: six furlongs, two-year-old fillies, won in 1943 by Thread o Gold. Saturday. July 15. Fleetwing Handicap, 0,000, raised from ,500; six furlongs, three-year-olds and upward, won in 1943 by Apache. Wednesday. July 19. East View Stakes. 0,000, raised from ,000: six furlongs.1 two-year-old colts and geldings, won in 1943 by Stronghold. Saturday, July 22.
