Interesting Nomenclature BALTIMORE. Md* April 13.— The four I two-year-old stakes to be run during the I combined Maryland meetings at old Pimlico | from April 12 to May 13 reveal a whole new crop of names which, though strange to the sports public, are nevertheless interesting because of their breeding and the reasons for their particular given names. One in the main which strikes a wartime fancy is Sea Bees, a son of War Admiral — Bettys Betty. Bobanet Stable, which owns the Derby-Preakness candidate Gay Bit, has just reversed that name for a young filly and call her Bit Gay. And OSullivan Farm has three juvenile colts christened as follows: Buz OSullivan, Kid OSullivan and Mik OSullivan. Gobi Desert, owned by Mrs. E. duPont Weir, is a nicely named son of Shifting Sands II — Tremendous. Louis B. Mayer has named a son of Beau Pere — 1 I I | Miami, not Stormy Weather, but Father Neptune. These are only a few, but the great game of naming horses is almost over for 1944 and from now on theyll have to be more than fancy names for the public o remember.
