I., N. Y.. April 13.— Mrs. W. T Westropes Gold Flare literally dropped from the clouds to roar down the stretch and snatch a half length victory from the favored Victim, sporting E. D. Talberts colors, in the featured Dunboyne Purse at Jamaica today. Gold Flare had only succeeded in passing Dead Level as the field curved into the stretch and Wire Tapper was nursing a diminishing lead before Victim, who was a pair of lengths before Esterita. with The Chief getting into a running mood in fourth place after obviously sulking. Westrope found an opening on the rail and saved a world of ground with Gold Flare He got to the front midway of the stretch and was steadily drawing away at the finish, while Victim held on courageously for his share of the purse. Wire Tapper and Esterita both tired badly in the drive and The Chief passed them both without much difficulty. Cheesestraw and Dead Level were never serious contenders. The secondary feature brought out a quartet with ,000 claiming tags and was another six-furlong sprint. Favorites have won every Daily Double race run thus lar at Jamaica, and when the Double was cancelled on Monday, when Star of Padula walked over in the first race, the favortd Naval Station won the second race.
