Darby Dimout, Likeasnot Topweighted For Todays Twin Detroit Attractions Rip Away Regarded as Main 1 Rival for Shagrin Racer at Route of Bull Dog Handicap FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 4. — The Bull Dog Handicap, a one mile and one-sixteenth test for four-year-olds and upward, and the Three Rivers Handicap, a six furlong sprint for thoroughbreds from the same age divisions, are to co-feature tomorrows attractive program at the Woodward Avenue course. The twin head-liners attracted small but evenly-matched fields, the mid-week card shaping up as one of the current meeting. The Bull Dog, which occupies seventh positions on the bill, will match seven top middle-distance performers and Milton Shagrin s Darby Dimout, who finished second in his last two local starts, drew the top weight assignment of 114 pounds. Previous to his shipment to the Motor City, the Shagrin star turned in several smart efforts at the Churchill Downs meeting, visiting the winners circle there on two occasions. Jockey J. Dewhurst, who piloted two victors on the Monday program, has been engaged to ride the Shagrin router in the Bull Dog. Anthony Graffagninis Rip Away, who recently won here, gets in the Bull Dog under 111 pounds and the New Orleans-owned colt is dangerous at the weights., ► Rip Away defeated a good field at the local oval in his last appearance under silks. Ed Talberts One Only and Jess Trents Gala-prox are to shoulder 112 pounds each, O. F. Woodwards San Yet is burdened with 110 pounds as is A. F. Walls Tiger Man while Albert Wellmans Wise Paisano, victor in the Man o War Handicap on inaugural day, is assigned 109 pounds for the Wednesday attraction. The Three Rivers should develop into a keen contest and Theodore D. Buhls locally owned Likeasnot, winner of the recently decided Dearborn Handicap, gets the post of honor under 114 pounds. George Krehbiels homebred Golden Man, who accounted for a division of the Harmony Landing Purse at Churchill Downs on Derby day, is favorably weighted at 107 pounds and his recent morning trials suggest that he is ready for a bright effort. Completing the field for the Three Rivers are Mrs. James L. Chesneys Royat, 108 pounds; E. D. Talberts Victim, 107, and W. E. MacDonalds Tulachmore, 112 pounds. The latter has failed to show top form thus far this season, but he won seven races during his 1945 campaign, one of which was the Mt. Clemens Handicap. Several other good races are listed for decision on tomorrows program and, with the promise of fair weather and an improved track, Fair Grounds officials are preparing to entertain a large crowd.
