DISTANT ISLE, in hand and on the outside to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive and, finishing fast, disposed of DEVILSAND in the last stride. The latter, never far back, wetn to the front approaching the stretch, held on willingly under urging, but could not withstand the winner, just missing. RONCAT raced evenly in a good effort and had no mishap. HERES HARVEY, outrun to the stretch, closed fast under punishment. OLES GAL lacked early speed, but finished strongly. GALLANTRY gave way after racing prominently to the stretch. TURKEY FOOT tired. EVERPLAYFUL quit after racing forwardly placed to the final quarter. KIDDIES IMAGE bore in so badly during the stretch run that he could not be persevered with and struck the rail several times. CHERBOURG appeared sore during the post parade, showed nothing in the running and pulled up lame. Scratched— 98868 Buds First, 108; 99452 Might Step. 108. SPEEDY LEE went to the front early, established a commanding lead and won as her rider pleased. FLASH A TAN, forced wide entering the stretch, finished strongly and lasted to dead-heat with HEYDAY for second. The latter, badly outrun early, worked his way forward steadily and closed strongly to be on equal terms with FLASH A TAN for the place. PLAYFUL JANE came to the inside for the drive and made a good bid before tiring near the finish. RAY. fractious at the post, gave way after racing prominently to the stretch. QUEEN FLASH forced the pace to the final furlong, then tired. AMBER GLOW raced wide. PLUCKY BELL had a rough trip. DATSO was done early. Datso claimed by Mrs. E. H Beezley. RIVER SCOTCH, on the outside and racing wide to the stretch, was taken to the inside for the drive and, responding to brisk handling, disposed of the leaders in the last sixteenth. HELIOTROPE, a sharp factor from the beginning, came gamely when set down in the drive, reached the lead between calls near the finish, but was unable to withstand the winner. FLYING JENNY went to the front early, made the pace until the last twenty yards, then faltered. LADY MAYFLOWER began fast, but could not keep up. SEA PIGEON raced prominently to the lats eighth, then gave way. TEEGREETZA began slowly and never was dangerous. VOLANTE was outrun. Overweight— Sea Pigeon, 2 pounds; Volante, 2.
