A length in back of the chestnut daughter of Easy Mon — Gloragina came Mr. and Mrs. Monte Weils Knights Gift, while Kirkpatrick and Turners Dots Risk was five additional lengths away in the six-furlong dash that was run in the dray-horse time of l:141/5. Breezy Louise displayed her usual sharp foot away from the gate, but before the field drove into the far turn, Mrs. J. L. Oglesbys Mint Quest dashed up and swept into a wide lead. The sharp running outsider continued to sho the way into the stretch, but right after passing the quarter mile she swerved badly into the rail and jockey A. L. Fay was forced to exercise good judgement to keep her from taking a tailspin The mishap eliminated the filly, and this allowed Breezy Louise to resume her place at the head of the field. Schutte Astride Winner She quickly opened a two-length gap, but Knights Gift came up with a tenacious challenge in the last sixteenth to cut her margin slightly at the wire. Mint Quest, who fell in her first start at Washington Park last July, and was forced out of training until the spring session at Oaklawn Park where she won her only start, gave a creditable effort until she met with her misfortune. Upon returning to the unsaddling section, it was noted that she sustained an injury to her left hind foot. The veteran jockey, Herman Schutte. who scerved with the armed forces before recently resuming riding activity, proved that he retains much of his old cunning in the third number, when he drove Mose Lowensteins Valdina Seer to a rather decisive victory in the third race against the third rate sprinters who competed at six and one-half furlongs. W. Renards Sons Style, the favorite, came from well back to take the place from Mr. and Mrs. F. Bartons Top Book. Mrs. Emil Denemarks Bullish ran the two-year-olds in the fourth race a merry chase, when he left the starting gate winging and never allowed any of the other Continued on Page Three * Breezy Louise Popular Winner Of Lincolns Durazna Purse Continued from Page One youngsters a chance to get within breathing distance, as he galloped under the wire four full lengths to the good. John Marschs Blue Seal saved a world of ground on ths turn and displayed fine gameness to hold Mrs. G. B. Scallon and Mrs. M. Weils Bull Wagon safe in a nifty battle for the place. The dash was contested over five furlongs, and the winner, a rugged looking son of Bull Lea — Dismay, by Discovery, registered 1:01% by the clock. He was an odd-son favorite and consequently his triumph made a hit with the crowd. Robert L. Vedder had little to do save be alert at the post. He accomplished this mission conspicuously, for Bullish broke so i fast that the others appeared unprepared by comparison. From then on it was a jog. D
