Only Four Answer 1 Bugle in Shevlin J Cedar Creek, Islam Prince, Hadrian, Jackamine Meet In 0,000 Aqueduct Event BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 4. — A small field has been entered overnight for the 0,000 Shevlin 4 4. Stakes, which will have its 20th running Q, at Aqueduct-at-Belmont tomorrow, with c only four rather ordinary three-year-olds p scheduled to dispute the mile and one-sixteenth event. n The four entered in the Shevlin are Wal- a ter P. Chryslers Cedar Creek, topweight with 120; John B. Thealls Islam Prince, 0 of Frank Frankels Hadrian and Mrs. F. P. Maganns Jackamine, with 112 each. They are the quartet that was tried in top com- and pany and found wanting. a Cedar Creek was withdrawn from Sat- g urdays 00,000 Belmont Stakes. There was a brief period during the winter when J the son of Bahram and Green Fee had " form in Florida that gave the impression * that he might be a really good colt, but ° that indication of class was ephemeral. Islam Prince, on the other hand, raced " a well at Jamaica early in the New York season, but he, too, became a disappoint- c ment. Hadrian and Jackamine have had creditable form recently, but against f weaker company. f Shapes Up as Open Race t This edition of the Shevlin shapes up ■ as an open contest in which it is as diffi- I cult to find the favorite as the likely win- 1 ner. Eric Guerin, who will ride Islam J Prince, is the only jockey assigned as yet. J * Past renewals of this stake have been won by some really good horses, including | Victorian, Jack High, Faireno and By Jim-miny, but the stake has also fallen to such as Rudie and Le Havre. A considerably larger field is likely to go J postward in Saturdays Astoria Stakes, an- ] other 0,000 test, but for juvenile fillies at J five and a half furlongs. Ninety-nine j J youngsters have been nominated for this test, including C. V. Whitneys First Flight and Maine Chance Farms War Fan. The former created a strong impression in her victorious debut here, then was beaten by Allen T. Simmons clever colt, Eternal War, * while War Fan raced very greenly in her . only Belmont start. This miss is a half ; sister to the capable, but temperamental Lord Boswell.
