Ednyfed H. Williams Handicap To Top First Fairmount Card FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., May 13. — The opening day feature at Fair-mount Park on Friday, May 30, will be the second running of the Ednyfed H. Williams Handicap. The inaugural feature will be over the six-furlong distance and is expected to draw the best horses on the grounds. The feature has been named for Maj. Ednyfed H. Williams, chairman of the Illinois Racing Board. A beautiful silver cup will be given to the first owner gaining three legs on the trophy. Last spring, two owners gained victories, when the race had to be split and two sections run. The first division of the race went to Jim Holmans Irish Wash and the second division to Risky Hash, owned and trained by Ted Wortman. Last year the Williams carried a purse of ,200 while this spring the purse for the opening day feature has been increased to ,000. Already on the ground and being groomed for a crack at a second leg on the silver trophy is the hard-hitting Risky Hash.
