HEX assumed command in the first quarter, drew clear under light urging, saved ground and held on gamely under steady pressure. BRIGHT ARC forced the pace from the start, rallied under a drive and was catching the winner. EASY BLEND was sent through on the inside rounding the final turn, threatened, then faltered. PORTERS CHIP, never far back, responded when straightened for the drive and closed gamely. QUAKERTOWN was forwardly placed and had no excuse. BRAZAD0 MAID raced evenly. REX HEROD had brief speed. DOG DAY, not hustled early, moved around horses to assume command leaving the furlong pole and won going away. HAPPY LARK was hustled into an early lead, disposed of DIEGO RED, raced on even terms with DOLOMITE to the final turn, lost command, but held on gamely. ELLEN MIST, never far back, was taken to the outside for the drive and finished strongly to dead-heat with YES OR NO. The latter, slow to settle into best stride, finished fast. DOLOMITE engaged the leaders to the furlong post, then faltered. VAMPIRE, forwardly placed on the outside, weakened under steady urging. MISSMENOW had no mishap. HY MAEDIC broke slowly. WENT TO POST-3:04. OFF AT 3:04 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. I Start good from stall gate. Won driving; seconds the same. HEYORTA showed speed from the start, engaged the leaders on the turn, held on gamely while forced to take the outside, then responded to steady urging, caught CARMUS inside the final sixteenth and drew out at the eno. CARMUS, hustled from the start, disposed of WISE ADVICE after a quarter, raced on even terms with HEYORTA to deep in the stretch, then weakened and earned a dead-heat with RING CURTAIN. The latter, slow to begin, closed with a rush on the outside. EBRO was unable to keep up and rallied mildly in the drive. TASCOSA had no mishap. WISE ADVICE weakened after keen early speed. KANKEEKEE assumed command at once, was steadied along under strong restraint, saved ground while losing command to CREOLE BABE, rallied when roused, came out from the rail to bump CREOLE BABE, then drew out under pressure. CREOLE BABE, in hand while following closest to the leader, moved to the front when set down, was going strongly when bumped off stride, recovered quickly, but was unable to catch the winner. ROSES ARE RED. under strong restraint for six furlongs, saved ground in the final quarter, but was not good enough. HARSAM failed to respond when set down and weakened under pressure. GRUB STAKE closed gamely. SAMBA SIREN sulked in the final half. A claime of foul against winner was disallowed. Overweight— Harsam, 5 pounds; Grubstake, 3i; Samba Siren, 2. Grubstake claimed by J. L. QUIEN ES, well handled while unable to run with the leaders early, responded to urging when set down, wore down the leaders in the final sixteenth and was drawing out. FREE TRANSIT forced the pace from the start, engaged SUPER FOOT nearing the furlong pole, gained command and faltered under steady pressure. SUPER FOOT was sent up fast between horses to gain the early lead, was allowed to go along at a fast rate, then faltered under a drive TRANSVAAL H had good speed in a good effort. FLEET WEST, quickest to begin, was under strong restraint while remaining close to the leader, moved into command entering the stretch and was kept going under steady pressure. MESL, in hand while close up, slipped through leaving the backstretch was taken around the tiring CHERRY QUEST, but was unable to reach the winner. CHERRY QUEST set the pace under light urging, then tired in the final yards. BOXIE, wandll up on the outside, was forced to lose ground when set down. LOLLING finished well under urging. HERES ME failed to respond to pressure THE CLEANER was unable to keep up. SPRING THAW quit after a half. FRANABE trailed Scratched— 224513 Miss Yam, 106. Overweight— Franabe, 2 pounds. QONA, well up on the outside of the leader, held on gamely when put to a drive, but was no match for the winner. SHIFTY SUE, in hand for six furlongs, closed strongly when set down J0BY K. went evenly. GREEN CRYSTAL set the pace under steadying restraint, but flattened out in the final furlong.
