ETERNAL DAY raced with the leader on the outside from the start and, under strong handling, outfinished DR. ALMAC. The latter saved ground while holding a narrow advantage and held on tenaciously. FLAMEUP showed an even effort, but was no match for the top pair. CERTIFIED closed willingly after being slow to settle into stride. RAMADAN weakened after showing speed. FRIAR TUCK tired. KNIGHTS HURRY was a forward factor from the start, assumed the lead from the outside and may have won a bit easier than margin would suggest. BUTTERSCOTCH saved ground to assume command turning for home, but could not resist the winner. KEPENG improved position steadily and showed a good effort. GRAYMAR JUDGE had speed in spots. GEM DESPRIT weakened after a half mile. LOUISE L. closed willingly. RUNG set the pace for a half mile and gave way while drifting out badly. BLIND BUYER weakened early. PRECESSION was sent into prominence on the turn, challenged from the outside and drew clear without need of pressure. VALDINA DECOY saved ground while forwardly placed, but was no match for the winner. LOVE TIME sprinted into a commanding lead and faltered in the final stages. JOE MANDELL caught tired horses, but could not seriously threaten. CELEBRITY MISS showed good early speed and tired. BAHRAMETER showed speed and lacked racing room in the stretch run. Healey; bred by Coldstream Stud. WENT TO POST— 3:47. OFF AT 3:48 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate for all but UPPER LEVEL. Won driving; second and third the same. JOSHUA sprinted into a commanding early lead, bolted to the outside fence entering the stretch, responded well when straightened for the drive and outfinished SHAKO. JOSHUA came out of the race decidedly lame. SHAKO saved ground throughout, but was not good enough. NEDDIECAN rallied from off the pace and had no excuse. YESNOW raced forwardly throughout, but was not good enough. UPPER LEVEL, practically eliminated at the start, moved between horses to reach contention, then faltered. SUNHELIO tired. SALVO trailed throughout and was timed in 1:28 while going out an additional furlong. PILASTER, under restraint through the first half mile, moved into the lead boldly at the furlong pole and drew clear after lugging in. DESERT RULER, always prominently placed, forged to the front leaving the turn and gave way in the drive. A claim of foul was not allowed. WHIZZ HAPPY was roughed about badly during the opening quarter, was slow to settle in stride and closed with a belated rush. BALANCED set the pace, but faltered badly in the stretch run. OLD SCHOOL closed willingly from far back. OCEAN FRONT was used up pressing the pace. FROZEN CUSTARD tired. LEADERSHIP, under restraint while within striking distance early, was shuffled back on the inside rounding the final turn. Scratched— 20919 Mr. Pleat, 116; 22677 Irish Rogue, 102. GORGET, taken off the fast early pace, rallied willingly to take command on the final turn, then drew clear rapidly to win easily. SHIVAREE disposed of ON THE RIVER to take a clear lead along the backstretch, was no match for the winner, but held on fairly well. DARBY DIEPPE moved through on the inside after five furlongs and dropped back thereafter. DRUM MAJOR was never a factor. ON THE RIVER quit badly when unable to gain the early lead. CRATER LAKE sprinted into a comfortable early lead, was well rated to the final turn, withstood the challenge of ORAGE and held sway to win rather easily. ORAGE was always prominent, but could not get to the winner. HOT POLE improved her position steadily, but was not good enough. MAEQUEL rallied too late to make her a serious threat.
